Free Churches were also established in Pitlessie, Balmalcolm and Kettle.  None survive.  The present Church at kettle was completed in 1832 and replaced one which had been situated in the old graveyard and is depicted in a painting by David Wilkie. “Picture of a Village School.”  Cults is recorded as having been rededicated in 1176.  Rev David Wilkie, father of Sir David Wilkie the popular 19th century artist, oversaw the erection of the present building in 1795.  The roof of the one it replaced is recorded as having collapsed as a wedding party was making its way to the church.
