Dear Friends,
I want you all to know how much I appreciate being given the opportunity to serve the folk of the Howe of Fife as Lay Locum.
As I am not an ordained minister I cannot officiate at Baptisms, Weddings or Communion. One of my responsibilities is, however, to ensure there are ordained ministers available to fulfil these roles when required. So anyone wishing to organise a Wedding or a Baptism should contact either Rev. Peter Neilson or myself.
What I will do is try to maintain continuity at worship by taking as many services as possible. I will also be available to officiate at funerals and visit as many of you as possible, especially the aged, and the infirm. Many have already welcomed me into their homes and I appreciate that greatly. It is also my intention to see anyone in hospital who would like a visit. To this end I will appreciate it greatly if I can be kept informed of parishioners who are in hospital for I will not know unless I am told.
We are fortunate to have the services of the Rev. Peter Neilson as our Interim Moderator. He brings a great deal of knowledge, experience and wisdom to the Parish at a time when we need good leadership.
It is my intention to ensure that during the vacancy it is ‘business as usual’ in the Howe of Fife. I cannot achieve this alone and already I appreciate the support of my wife Ann. I will also require the prayers of each one of you to ensure that all of God’s people are truly served in the Howe of Fife.
